Herb Cooper
Advisory Board

Dr. Herbert Cooper has over 40 years of engineering, operating and management experience in the energy and petrochemicals industries. He is President of Dynalytics Corp, an energy and technology consulting firm he founded in 1969.

Herb serves major engineering firms, equipment vendors, oil and chemical, and aerospace companies in optimizing the efficiency and economic performance of energy related facilities (e.g., power production, hydrogen and synthetic gas production, thermal coatings, steel mills, petrochemical production and oil refining) during their design, construction and operational phases.

His experience includes numerous applications of statistical- and probability-based approaches to technological, environmental, health and safety matters. These matters have been given significant attention to help assure that the facilities analyzed could be operated a sustainable manner.

Environmental responsibilities have included acquisition and assessment of environmental data, as well as the development and implementation of sound approaches to environmental permitting for the construction and operation of large industrial facilities. These range from chemical plants to utility plants for a variety of corporations, hospitals and municipalities.

Herb has performed many assessments of current and legacy issues associated with health and safety at industrial facilities, including investigations of compliance history, accident, lost time and illness records. These assignments have been carried out in the context of insurance claims and due-diligence required for acquiring industrial projects.

Herb holds several energy-efficiency technology patents and is a prolific writer and speaker, having presented and/or been published extensively on subjects such as fuel cell efficiency; sustainability and economics; greenhouse gas emissions; environmental permitting and legislation; and energy supply security, among others.

In addition to his consulting activities, Herb is the Chair of the Metro New York Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Herb was also an appointee to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Emission Offsets, Banking and Trading Advisory Committee and is proud to have served his community as a publicly elected trustee.

Herb earned a Doctorate in Engineering Science from Columbia University, and M.ChE and B.ChE degrees from the City College of the City University of New York.
