Leonard S. Hyman
Advisory Board

Leonard Hyman is president of Private Sector Advisors, Inc. and is a financial analyst and economist specializing in public utility finance, regulation and economics.

Leonard was previously a senior industry advisor to the investment bankers of Salomon Smith Barney's Global Power Group, where he took an active role in transmission and other restructuring projects. Before that, he headed Merrill Lynch's utility research group, where he had responsibility for equity coverage of energy and telecommunications companies. For more than ten years he was cited by Institutional Investor as one of the top research analysts in his field. Prior to joining Merrill, he was a partner in a New York Stock Exchange member firm, H.C. Wainwright, and an officer of Chase Manhattan Bank.

Leonard has testified before Congress, and served on advisory boards for the U.S. Congress Office of Technology Assessment and Electric Power Research Institute, and on task forces for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, North American Electric Reliability Council and NASA. He has been on advisory boards for EnerTech Capital, Excelergy and the International Foundation for Research in Experimental Economics.

He is a frequent speaker at industry meetings and contributor to industry publications. Leonard is author, co-author or editor of five books and has contributed to six others. His first book, America's Electric Utilities, now in its seventh edition, has become an industry standard.

Leonard is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and received an M.A. in economics from Cornell University and a B.A. from New York University. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
