TRA ELEMENTS AND DIMENSIONS MAPPED TO GRI

As a GRI Organizational Stakeholder, Target Rock Advisors (TRA) supports GRI's objectives and reporting principles.

For users of Target Rock's scoring, ranking and indexing systems who are also GRI reporting entities or otherwise interested in GRI reporting, Target Rock has mapped our key TBL performance indicators onto the GRI Electric Utility Sector Supplement reporting protocol, available here.

GRI is the most widely used sustainability reporting framework in the world and therefore provides the market with the most consistent and comparable data being voluntarily reported by organizations. It also has been adopted, or is currently being considered, by a large number of U.S. utilities.

By the nature of its design TRA's sustainability assessment approach does not include all GRI indicators and in some areas includes data not considered by GRI. Our approach is based significantly on quantitative analytics in key areas of sustainability and utilizes data that are required to be filed by law or regulation. Therefore, the data are standardized, publicly available and independently verifiable. We do not utilize proprietary questionnaires to collect data.

As the legend on the map indicates, a number of TRA's performance indicator categories correspond directly (D) to GRI's standard disclosures, while others correspond indirectly (I). In certain cases the relationship is strong and in others only approximate. Target Rock also has a number of performance indicators under development (UD), as noted on the map. In many cases, TRA independently collects data that are the same as or similar to that required by GRI; however, the data that GRI collects are not used in the TRA scoring process.

While we offer the map to facilitate an understanding of the relationship between GRI disclosure topics and performance indicators and those used by TRA, we emphasize that we do not use GRI report data directly in our analyses.
